May 2013 Q Specials

So far all of you out there enjoying the 75 or 80 degree weather, I just wanted to say Happy May Day!

It just started in the early hours of the morning and just keeps coming down.  I had to pick up my son from preschool and had completely forgotten that I needed to save some time to wipe off all of this snow so I could actually see where I am driving.  There were several inches.  I'd estimate 4 maybe.  You would think that this wouldn't be a surprise to me at this point, but after living in Las Cruces, NM for most of my life and having snow happen MAYBE once a year and even then it typically falls from the sky but melts once it reaches the ground, this weather coming in May is still a SHOCKER.

Now its all clear why Meilea did the grow your own potato bucket article and not me, huh?  I am dying to start having a window garden too.  They say the rule of thumb in Denver is not to plant before Mother's Day weekend so maybe this will be the last snow... or maybe once more since there are still almost 2 weeks left til that time.  Anywho, I am pretty sure this sporadic craziness is almost over. :)

So the wait is over for those of you wondering what deals you get to score for April.  It would appear that Chef Todd was getting ready for Cinco de Mayo as there are a few ingredients for South of the Border recipes.  Remember that you can still take advantage of April Sales and winter price lists until 5 pm today, but after that, we will be switching to these new sales and price lists.  That means you have a couple more hours to stock up on pineapples before you can stock up on blueberries.

April 2013 THRIVE Q Sales

Welcome Back!

New name means big changes!
It has been so hard getting used to the new name.  I know for most of you, it probably seems like... "what's the big deal.  Your food was already called THRIVE so 'THRIVE Life' isn't a huge switch."  And you're right, it shouldn't be so surprising for us, but, for many of us that have been with the company from the beginning its kind of a shocker.  As you have probably already guessed we will be needing to change our blog name as the name Shelf Reliance is no longer.

We are hoping to launch our new site as well as many of our new ideas in May or June so look forward to this amazing change.  I am starting to get excited about all that we will be able to do with this new opportunity.  We have a professional web designer from Eedee Designs working hard to make it the most user friendly, easily navigable and fresh looking site.  I hope that you will enjoy the switch!

April Showers bring lots of great sales!
Now for the Q Sales for April.  I am seriously so excited about all of the products that I had to add them all to my Q today before it ships out tomorrow.  I can't wait to start cooking up some Q recipes for next Wednesday's Post.  Then of course we'll have Chef Todd's Thrive it Up next Tuesday so you're head will be spinning with all of the potatoey goodness.  I'm sure that these spuds will be showing up soon in our weekly series that is debuting next week - Thirty Days of Thrive.  (more details below)

Thirty Days of THRIVE
I have so many people ask me how to use THRIVE on a regular basis.  I will tell you that the more you use it, the less of a switch it feels.  You will begin to wonder how you ever cooked without it because it is so convenient.

In order to help you get on your way, we have been doing multiple things...

Brianna has signed on to show you how she is just getting started with the products. Most of her recipes are things that only require a few ingredient switches. This is wonderful for those beginners who think, I don't have a full pantry of THRIVE, where do I start?

Meilea has signed on to show you just how easy it is to incorporate THRIVE into your daily life especially during pregnancy, nursing and babyhood.

But, our final step is for those of you who are ready to pull out "the big guns" so to speak.  If you are a Q member and have been developing a stock pile aka loaded pantry and want to know either how to use it now or how to have a bunch of recipes to use once time gets tough, we will be doing a series where every Tuesday you can count on a family tested recipe that incorporates 100% THRIVE products except for maybe a few spices or little things you are bound to have on hand.  We hope to release an e-book with these and many more recipes by the end of the year just in time for you to give as gifts for your loved ones who may be struggling with starting with Freeze Dried products.

The NEW Q!

The New Q has several advantages over the previous version.  It is more navigable, fresh looking and meal friendly. Check out a few reasons why:

     1. The simple green click to add button makes it so effortless to put products in the cart.
     2. Monthly Specials are highlighted there on the dashboard so you can see at a glance if you'd like to use the monthly coupons in your grocery cart.
     3. As requested by thousands of customers, emergency products, shelving and other non-food items can now be added to the Q to be shipped with your food.  The REALLY cool thing about that, is if you are on the Q-Club (which will now be free for anyone with a budget greater than $100), you earn Q points towards free product off of these non-food items as well!
     4.You can also see what Thrive Life has added to their wide variety of products since your last order by viewing the New Products tab.

Adding products is a breeze now as you are able to stay on the same page after hitting the green add button. You will then have a pop-up which allows you to choose the desired package size.

Finally, the new Q will allow you to create whole meal plans and to shop by our online recipe database with just a few clicks.  You are able to search for product type, meal type, food allergies, time it takes to make the dish and ingredient wanted to find delicious, tested recipes your family will love.  Click the Advanced Search link to start searching to find what you need.  Click on the green my Q I have circled to be taken to the meal planning page.

Well, this is only a basic line up, but as you can see, this program has gone through some big changes.  Want to check the Q?  We hope that you will enjoy it when it becomes available to the public on April 1st.    You are welcome to watch this short video about the basics.



Finally, here are the points that you can earn from being on the Q-Club.  The different levels or tiers will no longer exist... it will either be that you are on the Q Club or not.  Anyone with a budget over $100 gets this membership free automatically upon sign up.  To stay on the Q-Club, you only need to make at least 11 shipments a year.  Thrive Life will send you a reminder email if you are behind on shipments and there are no penalties at anytime for stopping.

I will be sure to have a more formal post with pictures and links to the website as they become available, but I wanted to write a brief post of what's in store for you with Shelf Reliance in only a brief couple of weeks.

Chef Todd Leonard has created 12 - yes 12 new just-add-water dishes that are absolutely fantatic.  We got to sample each one of them today.  I will post about my favorites in 2 days.  Trust me, you won't want to miss these meals, most of which cook in under 15 minutes!

We also released a brand new pancake mix (now don't you worry, the 6 grain pancake mix will still be on the menu :) as well as eggs that are ready to scramble.  Woohoo!  Are you a health nut who doesn't eat regular eggs?  Guess what.....egg whites are on the way to the rescue.  Isn't that fantastic?

Plus, if you thought our Instant milk was fabulous already, it just got better.  Shelf Reliance revamped the milk and had a blind taste test and our Instant Milk actually tested HIGHER (ie Better Tasting in rank) than regular milk from the store!  It is also fortified with Vitamins A and D so you know you are getting just what you need for your family.

Free Product You will receive 10% of the total sales from your party in free product. For instance, if your party sales are $800, you will receive $80.00 in free product at retail price.

Half Off: The total sales at your party determines how much you will receive in half off merchandise. For example, if your party total is $800, you will receive $150.00 to spend on products that are half off the retail price. In other words, you only pay $75.00 for $150.00 in product. 8 Steps to a Successful Party

1. Set Goals Set a goal for your party sales total, and choose the products you would like to get with your host benefits. Your consultant will do all they can to help you reach your goal!

2. Invite Your Guests Invite as many people as possible to your party. Typically only one quarter of those you invite can attend, so if you want 10 people to attend, you need to invite 40. Don't rule anyone out. You never know who is interested and ready to begin emergency planning.  Shelf Reliance products benefit everyone, so start inviting today!
Also remember, you can send out an e-vite or post card at least one week ahead of time.  Call anyone who hasn't responded withina couple days to make sure they know about the party. Verbal invites or follow-ups tend to get the best results in attendance.
To access your party account which allows you to send emails, go to www.shelfreliancemom.shelfreliance.com/parties. On the top-right portion of the page, click “Login”. Enter your information under “Create a new account.” Once the consultant has set up a party page with you as thehost using the same email you registered with, you will see the link “host home” when you log in. Once you click on that link, you will be able to manage your party on-line.

3. Collect Orders  If someone cannot attend your party, ask them if you could take their order. Your consultant will give you a price sheet and order forms you can forward to anyone that would like to pre-order. They may also lend you a catalog for guests to preview. Remember that most people are really excited about the Q, so be sure to introduce it. 

4. Remind Your Guests Be sure to give reminder calls a day before the party.

5. Set up Your Q Go to the Shelf Reliance website and set up your own Q. Then you will be able to help all of your guests get signed up quickly.

6. Prepare for the Party Review the host prep sheet your consultant will send you. Remember, to ask your consultant questions about the products or program ahead of time.

7. Get Excited Shelf Reliance offers so many beneficial products, so how could you help but get excited? Just remember, you want to pass that excitement on to all your guests.

8. Help Your Consultant Make sure your party goes smoothly by helping the consultant collect orders after the party.

What is Thrive Q?

For those of you just learning about Shelf Reliance, the Thrive Q is a monthly delivery service which allows you to set building a home store by saving up surplus food as a priority.  Many people also use this as a monthly grocery delivery service because the food is so tasty, healthy, and conveniently chopped up that you will  want to use it on a regular basis.  I love that I can change my food around to be the items that are on sale, what I need for storage or what I'm craving as a snack each month.
